[WOO okay um picking up her purse too, because derp. She kind of. Slides out of the bathroom, pretty okay with pretending that didn't just happen.]

I could use a drink, though.

[Jesse hops out of the bathroom along with her, making his way to the kitchen.]

Um, beer or something stronger?

Beer's fine.

[hostage]

[He accidentally grabs two beers, puts one back, and grabs a soda for himself. Once he's got the cap off, he turns back to her and leans up against the kitchen table.]

So what's up?

[momchester]

[She doesn't answer for a second, as she's busy staring at the beer cap until it pries itself off. When it does, she looks up with a little triumphant huff and takes a first drink.]

Ah, well. I have a problem. Well, my friend does- and I mean that, I'm not just covering.

[Jesse nods. He doesn't look skeptical or anything. If she says it's a friend, he believes her.]

What's your friend's problem?

[momchester]

[Mary takes a breath. This will be fun to explain, especially since she's pretty sure she doesn't know the real story.]

He got into some trouble over money, and now he thinks there are some dangerous people after him. He isn't human. He looks... pretty different.

Do you know Meowth?

[momchester]

[The cat. So surreal.]

He obviously can't blend in very well.

Apparently he was on top of the bookshelf last time you came over, so he knows about what your power can do.

[There's that sinking feeling. Jesse shuts his eyes for a moment, running his palm over his face.]

...Right. Okay.

[momchester]

[Aaaaahhh no stop the guilt it hurts.]

Jesse, I'm sorry. He begged me to ask you. I don't expect you to just jump up and do it, but I at least needed to talk to you.

[Nothing works like that. Either he needs to pay off Meowth to keep his silence... or he needs to kill the cat himself. Guess which one he's not doing.]

What's he asking for, exactly.

[momchester]

[She takes a pull from her beer and clasps her hands around the damp bottle.]

He wants a power to help him change shape. He says he wants to look like a normal cat or a person.

Okay, yeah. I can do that.

[He isn't happy about it, but he doesn't look angry, either. As far as breakage goes, it's about $300,000 he's getting blackmailed out of, but it could be worse. And at least it's Mary delivering this to him gently.]
