Very well. If that is what you have chosen. Simply name the charity, and it will be done.

[There's a moment's pause while Dooku tries to puzzle out Daryl's motivation for this choice. Keeping the money for himself, or giving it to his allies, or publicly donating it to sway popular opinion- these are all courses of action he might have expected and comprehended. But why a women's shelter? How does Daryl benefit from that? Could it be that he simply wants to help women in trouble?

No, of course not, the Count decides. There is some ulterior motive. He might not know it yet, but it is there. It hardly matters one way or the other- Daryl can do what he wants with his money, as long as he continues to advance the Constellation's goals.

The arrangements will be made at once. Two thousand dollars anonymously donated each month to the shelter, until you indicate otherwise.

[He hadn't really been expecting Dooku to agree.]

Could you do $500 a month to each of the Women's Shelters in each of the porter cities. They got more than one shelter, but the groups that run 'em will be named after the city. Heropa Woman's Shelter, Nonah Women's Shelter and the like.

And sign them 'From The Angel'?

[It's what everyone'd been calling him after he started finding all those missing kids. He wasn't really out to get recognition, but it'd be nice for people to know that their 'Angel' wasn't gone. He'd need to get back to that soon.]

[The Count relaxes slightly on the other end of the line. Now this is something he can understand. The Count recalls that the last time the 'Angel' was in the news, the child-rescuing hero had been linked to the rather bloody deaths of some unsavory individuals. This is Daryl's ploy to boost the Angel's public image after that media controversy- and a sign that Dixon is either the Angel himself, or an ally. Yes, it all fits together.]

That will be a more complicated arrangement. Extra precautions will have to be taken. But the donations will be made exactly as you have described.

You will be notified if any problems arise.

[More donations means more risk of being tracked by the authorities, especially if they're signed by a name that may already be under police investigation. But Dooku would never have founded the Constellation if he was not willing to take risks. Daryl has served well- he will be indulged, at least for now.]
