GENERAL - breaking bad.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT

Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Breaking Bad revolves around Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a struggling high school chemistry teacher with a teenage son who has cerebral palsy (RJ Mitte) and a pregnant wife, Skyler (Anna Gunn). When Walt is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, he breaks down and turns to a life of crime, producing and selling crystal methamphetamine with his former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), in an attempt to secure his family's financial future while avoiding detection from his DEA agent brother-in-law, Hank Schrader (Dean Norris).

Simultaneously a Tarantino-esque black comedy and a Shakespearean tragedy, the show is a smart, stylish, and visually stunning crime thriller that's been called the best television series of all time. It's the story of an ordinary man making all the wrong choices to elevate himself out of obscurity, eventually transforming himself into an iconic and terrifying villain who lays ruin to everything and everyone around him.

VIDEO CLIPS
If you're here because of Jesse (and I assume that you are), then you're probably most interested in seeing where this idiot comes into play. Without spoiling too much, here's a list of some of my favorite moments. At least, the ones that come with clips readily available on the internet.

jesse schools the juárez cartel - "salud" (season 4 episode 10)
Jesse spends most of the series being ridiculed and beaten down, so when he's forced to go to Mexico to teach cartel chemists how to cook Heisenberg's famous blue meth, you expect things to go really badly. Instead, this happens.

Cowhouse - "Pilot" (season 1 episode 1)
Once upon a time like about a year ago, Jesse was a complete burnout moron. This is my favorite out of many moments in the pilot that illustrate the depths of his stupidity. His character introduction is equally amazing, but I'll save the surprise.

The Most Awkward Dinner Ever - "Buyout" (season 5 episode 6)
Although Jesse is basically Walt's surrogate son, he very, very rarely comes into contact with Walt's real family. Probably because, when he does, disasters like this are bound to happen.

Jesse's Confession - "Problem Dog" (season 4 episode 7)
Jesse's first murder hits him really hard, as first murders tend to. When he finally decides to stop running from his sins, he attempts to face them instead by confessing to a group of strangers at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.

If I Can't Kill You - "Box Cutter" (season 4 episode 1)
Despite being the idiot of the group, Jesse's always had a lot more insight into the truth of matters than his partner has. After losing his soul in one extremely traumatic night, Jesse explains things in very simple terms over breakfast at Denny's.

Run - "Half Measures" (season 3 episode 12)
Most of the time, you just want Walt to stay away from Jesse. Occasionally, you're really grateful that he doesn't. Here's what happens when Jesse goes on a suicide mission to avenge the death of a child.

It's All Contaminated - "Fly" (season 3 episode 10)
As Jesse confesses to murder, so does Walt... in his own way. There's a contamination in their relationship, and it probably has to do with Walt secretly ruining his partner's life. This entire episode is pure art, but here is a moment.

Walt and Jesse High Five - "4 Days Out" (season 2 episode 9)
Sometimes it's hard to remember the good times. But there are good times. Did you know that cooking meth can be extremely heartwarming? The term bromantic is thrown around pretty liberally, but this is the definition of.

...And Never Come Back - "Bug" (season 4 episode 9)
And then there are the bad times. Walt hopes Jesse ends up melted in hydrofluoric acid. For some reason, Jesse responds poorly to this. A brutal fight between feeble white men follows. If you somehow thought Jesse was tough, this will shatter your image of him.

That's What Happens Next - "One Minute" (season 3 episode 7)
Jesse is so soulful and sad and sweet that it's easy to forget he's also kind of evil. Here's a speech that will remind you that he has a dark side. Granted, he's in a lot of pain without a drop of morphine to soothe him. But still. Dude.

Jesse is Bored to Death - "Shotgun" (season 4 episode 5)
Jesse has a pretty unique way of responding to being kidnapped. First he doesn't care at all, then he threatens to slice the guy's ear off, and then... god, he's so bored and this car ride is really long.

It's All Like Shiny Up In Here - "I See You" (season 3 episode 8)
You know when you're breaking up with your girlfriend and you're all like "it's not you, it's me" and then your new girlfriend shows up halfway through the talk and it's Ke$ha with alcohol-soaked vomit staining her shirt? This is kind of like that.

Unsupervised in the Superlab - "I See You" (season 3 episode 8)
Okay, so Jesse is actually a five-year-old. Here he is, left to his own devices with millions of dollars' worth of lab equipment. Includes silly dancing and an attempt to fuck a ventilation tube.

A Robot?!?! - "4 Days Out" (season 2 episode 9)
When you're stranded in the middle of the desert for several days without food or water, of course you get kind of delirious and stupid. Or maybe you're just Jesse Pinkman. Whatever, it was an awesome idea.

What About a Magnet? - "Live Free or Die" (season 5 episode 1)
By some miracle (and, well, let's give some credit to sobriety), Jesse eventually becomes the brains of the operation. Here is the first of many shining moments of cleverness we come to see from Jesse. Note the incredulous stares he gets in response.
